Canton, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped their season openers at St. Lawrence on Friday afternoon. The women lost 122-99, while the men suffered a 124-102 defeat.
For the women, freshman Sarah Shaw won the 1000 Free (11:25.72) and finished second in the 200 IM (2:23.37), while Carrie Koch won the 500 Free (5:40.03) and took third in the 1000 Free (11:45.78). Katherine Kelloway also took second in the 200 Free (2:07.54) for the Thoroughbreds. In the diving events, Kristen Stearns won the 1-Meter and finished second in the 3-Meter, losing by just two points.
On the men's side, Rob Ziliniyi won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter diving events, while Jesse Adler won the 200 Back (2:05.93) and took second in the 50 Free (23.95). Stephen Lento won the 200 IM (2:08.57), took second in the 100 Free (53.16) and finished third in the 500 Free (5:16.64). Also, Greg Amoresano placed third in both the 200 Free (2:00.61) and the 100 Free (53.39).
The Thoroughbreds return to action, tomorrow afternoon at SUNY Potsdam.
