Swimmers fall to RPI

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College swimming and diving teams both fell to R.P.I. in Saturday's meet at the Sports and Recreation Center. The Engineers won the men's meet 158-78 and the women's meet, 169-66.
Sophomore diver Doug Pilawa (Chardon, Ohio) swept the diving events for the Thoroughbreds, with scores of 266.709 in the 3-meter and 281.859 in the 1-meter. Also for the men, Stephen Lento (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned a pair of second place finishes in the 200 IM (2:08.23) and 500 Free (5:13.74). John Tyler Norton (Chappaqua, N.Y.) took second in the 100 Breast (1:06.93) and Kyle Bessa-McManus (New York, N.Y.) finished second in the 50 Free (24.73) while Jesse Adler also had a second place finish in the 100 Back (59.55).
On the women's side, Sonia Segal-Smith (Needham, Mass.) had three second place finishes in the 100 Free (58.71), 100 Breast (1:16.96) and 1000 Free (11:07.30). Sophomore Alena Chubet (Westwood, Mass.) also had a second place finish in the 100 Back (1:07.00). Carrie Koch (Wellesley, Mass.) had two third-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:25.87) and 500 Free (5:41.98) and Elaine Burns (Worcester, Mass.) finished third in the 200 Free (2:07.35).
The women will host the Skidmore Women's Invite next weekend a 1 p.m. and the men will return to action on Feb. 13 at Vassar.
