#4 Bowdoin hands Skidmore its first loss

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin's Caitlin Hynes scored a game-high 22 points
as the fourth-ranked Polar Bear women's basketball team pulled away from
Skidmore, 78-47, in a battle of unbeaten squads on Saturday evening.

The contest was the opener of the 2010 Coastal Maine Classic. Bowdoin
improves to 7-0 and is off to their best start since the 2006-07
campaign while the Thoroughbreds (6-1) lose their first game of the season.

Bowdoin blew open a close contest with a 25-4 run over the final five
minutes of the opening half and the start of the second period. The
hosts held a 21-20 lead before closing the stanza on a 13-2 spurt to
carry a 34-22 edge into intermission.

Hynes connected on 8-10 from the field to total her game-high 22 while
also dishing out a team-high six assists,

Skidmore was led by 17 points and six boards from Sharlyn Harper.

The Thoroughbreds will play St. Joseph's of Maine on Sunday.
