SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Skidmore College women's basketball team beat Union College 53-51 in the Liberty League opener for both teams.
Senior guard
Sharlyn Harper (New York, NY/Holderness) scored 23 points for the Thoroughbreds (9-2). Union falls to 2-9.
Skidmore used its outside game to earn its ninth victory of the season, going 10-of-31 from behind the arc and back-to-back three-pointers by Harper and
Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) put them ahead 51-47 with just 1:50 remaining in the game.
After trailing for the majority of the first half, Skidmore used a 10-1 run midway through the second half to grab its first lead of the game. Harper contributed five points during the run.
Gaugler (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) finished with nine points and Harper added with four steals and five rebounds.
Skidmore will host William Smith on Friday at 6 p.m.
