Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The sixth-ranked Hamilton College women's lacrosse team scored 11 first-half goals en route to a 17-5 Liberty League victory over Skidmore College Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
The Continentals, who are the defending NCAA national champs, improve to 12-2 and 7-1 in the Liberty League. The Thoroughbreds end their season with a 6-9 record and a 2-6 mark in conference play.
Hamilton started the contest with three goals in the first 3:30, including two by sophomore Anne Graveley, before Skidmore freshman Lauren Madden (Huntington, N.Y.) put the home squad on the board at 25:44 with a goal off of a nice feed from sophomore Kimberly Segalas (Stamford, Conn.).
The Continentals then went on a 9-1 run capped off by a goal by junior Audrey Nebergall from senior Kaillie Briscoe to go into the half with an 11-2 lead.
Hamilton tacked on two more goals to begin the second stanza from freshman Libby Schultz and Briscoe to gain a 13-2 advantage. The Thoroughbreds answered back with two goals of their own from Segalas and freshman Ali Carney-Knisely (South Burlington, Vt.) to cut the lead to 9.
Segalas netted her third goal of the game with 10:30 remaining in the game to make the score 14-5, before the Continentals closed out the contest with three goals to put the final at 17-5.
Segalas led Skidmore with three goals (41 for the season) and three assists. Hamilton was paced by four goals from Graveley, with Briscoe adding two goals and four assists.
Senior net-minder Courtney DeStefano (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished with 11 saves in her final collegiate contest. Junior Kate Fowler and freshman Sam Elie each picked up four saves in the net for the Continentals.
