Softball wins two more

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team made quick work of Cazenovia with an easy 3-0, 9-0 road sweep.Cazenovia dropped to 5-12 on the season and has now lost five of their last six. Skidmore improved to 16-7 overall and are currently riding a nine-game winning streak.

An RBI groundout in the top of the second by Skidmore's Tara DeGeorge (Seaford, NY) in game one broke a scoreless tie to give the Thoroughbreds a 1-0 lead. After three complete scoreless innings, Skidmore added two more runs in the top of the sixth on a two-run homer by Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, NJ) to go up 3-0. The Wildcats reached on an error in the sixth and seventh, but failed to get anything going towards a comeback.

Five players registered one hit for Skidmore in the win. Sam Crose (Assonet, MA) got the complete game, shutout win for Skidmore..

In game two, Skidmore scored early and often as they opened the contest with runs in four consecutive innings. The Thoroughbreds collected 12 hits for the game and drove in each of their nine runs.

Skidmore's Lauren Bernstein (White Plains, NY) was 3-of-4 with an RBI, while Caitlin Ketchum (N. Clarendon, VT) went 2-for-3 with four RBIS and one run scored.
