Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Juniors Tina Nawrocki and Whitney Thayer and freshman Margie Fulton netted three goals a piece to lead the Williams College women's lacrosse team to a 16-5 victory over Skidmore College Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Wachenheim Field.
The Ephs are now 7-4, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 6-5.
Skidmore began the scoring when junior Abbie Klaus (Bethesda, Md.) scored an unassisted goal 36 seconds into the game to put the Thoroughbreds up 1-0.
Williams then answered back with eight unanswered goals to take an 8-1 lead with 11:16 remaining in the first half. Fulton scored two goals during the run, with Tina Nawrocki and Thayer each tallying one.
Thoroughbred freshman Lauren Madden (Huntington, N.Y.) cut the lead to 8-2 when she put in her 28th goal of the season at 7:49.
Williams notched two more goals before the half to put the score at 10-2 at the intermission.
The Ephs opened the second stanza with goals from Fulton and Julia Nawrocki which were followed by scores from Tina Nawrocki and Thayer to give the Ephs a 14-2 advantage with 17:28 left to play.
Skidmore received goals from Klaus, Kimberly Segalas (Stamford, Conn.) and Laura Flynn (Wellesley, Mass.) in the final 11:58, but final goals from Thayer and Tina Nawrocki sealed the 16-5 victory for Williams.
Klaus led the Thoroughbreds with two goals, while Segalas tallied one goal and two assists.
For the Ephs, Fulton added three assists to her three goals, with Thayer picking up two assists.
Sophomore Julia Schreiber and freshman Kate Foley combined for 11 saves in the win for the Ephs.
Skidmore will be on the road at Clarkson and St. Lawrence on April 17-18.
