Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team began is 2009 season with a double-header split with Case Western University on March 7 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. The Thoroughbreds took game one, 6-2, while dropping game two, 3-1.
In game one, freshman hurler Sam Crose (Assonet, MA) picked up her first collegiate win while going 2-4 at the plate with a double, two RBI, and a run scored.
Rookie Tara DeGeorge (Seaford, NY) also went 2-4 in the win and had one double and one run scored, while sophomore Derrin Jarvis (Harvard, MA) finished with a double and one RBI.
Senior Jamie Rubin (Scarsdale, NY) and sophomore Charlotte Evans (Pawling, NY) each had a hit and a run scored, with Evans recording two walks and a stolen base.
Evans went 1-3 and junior Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, NJ) posted a double and an RBI for the Thoroughbreds in game two.
