Swimmers fall to Vassar

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Skidmore Diver Doug Pilawa swept the diving events with NCAA qualifying marks, in Saturday's swimming and diving meet against Vassar at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The Brewers won both meets, taking the men's meet 154-121 and the women's meet, 172-122.

Pilawa took first in the 1-meter, breaking his own record with 291.75 and he won the 3-meter with 288.53.

Also for the men, Jess Adler won the 500-yard freestyle and took second in the 100 free (52.83) and 100 backstroke (1:00.88). Tom Sagimbeni was second in the 200 butterfly (2:21.10), 100 butterfly (58.52), and 200 free (1:59.87).

On the women's side, Sonia Segal-Smith won the 1000 free (11:44.7) and 100 breast by .2 seconds (1:12.21). She also grabbed a second in the 200 breast (2:39.57). Carrie Koch was second in the 500 (5:44.23) and 200 free (2:06.4) and third in the 200 IM (2:26.77). Kelsey Carson (2:25.91) and Elaine Burns (2:32.69) went 1-2 in the 200 fly and diver Julie DeGemmis won the 3-meter.

The Thoroughbreds travel to St. Michael's College on Nov. 14.
