Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Senior forward Amber Kinsey (Troy, N.Y./Lansingburgh) scored a game-high 14 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Skidmore College women's basketball team to a 50-45 win over Sage College, Tuesday night at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The Thoroughbreds are 3-0, while Sage drops to 2-3.

The game was close throughout with several lead changes, but Skidmore took the lead for good on a Kinsey lay-up with 6:34 to play to make it 40-38. Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) hit a three with 1:16 to play to give the Thoroughbreds their largest lead of the night, a nine-point advantage, 49-40.

Sage closed it to four, 49-45, on a three by Carlin DeMarinis with :59 to play and a pair of free throws by Elizabeth Donk at the :35 mark. Dana Leonard (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) hit one of two free throws with :18 to play for Skidmore for the 50-45 final.

Gaugler finished with eight points, six assists, and four steals. while Leonard had six points and 10 rebounds.

DeMarinis led Sage with 12 points and four steals.

Skidmore is at Hartwick on Dec. 1.
