Box Score

Saratoga Springs
, N.Y. – Senior forward Kellye Caufield (Monroe, Conn.) recorded a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Skidmore College women's basketball team to a 62-49 Liberty League victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at the Sports and Recreation Center.

With the win, the Thoroughbreds split their conference weekend and improve to 6-12 and 3-4 in Liberty League play. Vassar falls to 3-14 and 0-7 in conference play.

Skidmore came out big in the first half, going on an 18-2 run in the stanza ignited by a lay-up from sophomore Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) at 16:18. The Thoroughbreds held a 38-24 advantage at halftime after converting a red hot 15-27 (55.6%) from the field.

The Brewers pulled to within nine in the second half after a free-throw from junior Emily Haeuser (South Portland, Maine) with 22 seconds left to play, but that was as close as Vassar came as two Caufield free-throws with three seconds remaining clinched the 62-49 win.

Skidmore shot 36.7 % (22-60) from the field while forcing 23 Vassar turnovers leading to 28 points.

Caufield was 5-10 from the floor and 6-8 from the free-throw line while contributing four steals. Thoroughbred freshman Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) posted nine points and senior Laurel Brown (South Hamilton, Mass.) finished with eight.

Haeuser led all scorers with 19 points and added 10 rebounds, and freshman Brittany Parks (Escondido, Calif.) ended with 15 points for Vassar.

Skidmore will travel to Union on Feb. 3 for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
