Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— St. Lawrence University held off several late Skidmore runs for a 58-45 Liberty League women's basketball win Friday at the Sports and Recreation Center.  The Thoroughbreds are 3-9 and 0-2 in Liberty play, while the Saints improve to 8-3 and 1-0.

SLU grabbed a 28-23 lead at the half when Brittany Parham (Fort Drum. N.Y.) scored on a put-back at the buzzer.  The Saints increased the lead to 11 early in the second, when Skidmore battled back to get within one, 34-33 with 13:20 to play in regulation. 

The Thoroughbreds kept it close down the stretch,  but St. Lawrence used a 10-2 run over the final four minutes for the win.

Abby Stanton (Avon, N.Y.) led the Saints with 20 points, hitting five of her team's 10 three-pointers.  Katie Palmer (Bourne, Mass.) added 16 points off the bench.

Skidmore's Kellye Caufield (Monroe, Conn.) scored a season-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.  Laura Michel (Middle Village, N.Y.) contributed eight points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

The Thoroughbreds host Clarkson on Saturday at 2 p.m.
