The 11th-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team ended the regular season with a 20-7 win over Skidmore College in a Liberty League contest on McCooey Field. The Herons improve to 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 2-14 on the season and 0-8 in the league.
For the Thoroughbreds, junior Laura Flynn (Wellesley/Wellesley, Mass.) and first-year Sidney Weill (Hopkins School/Woodbridge, Conn.) both notched two goals, while first-year Lauren McCarthy (Ipswich/Ipswich, Mass.) added a goal and a helper.
Sophomore Molly Fitzgerald (Gould Academy/Sudbury, Mass.) headlined the offense for William Smith, tallying three goals and three assists.
Senior Heron goalie Morgan Baird (Pingree School/Gloucester, Mass.) recorded 15 saves in the victory, while DeStefano finished with 13 saves for the visitors.
