Divers sweep in loss at Vassar

, N.Y.—Despite several impressive wins, the Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Vassar College, Saturday.  The women lost 175-112, while the men lost 165-117.

 

Diver Doug Pilwa continued to rewrite his own Skidmore records, winning the 1-Meter (261.45) and 3-Meter (263.45).  The men's 200 Medley Relay posted an exciting win by just .02 of a second. The team of Stephen Lento, John Taylor Norton, Sam Leibenhaut, and Tom Saglimbeni won with a time of 1:46.23.

 

Norton also won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.15) and 50 freestyle (23.94) and took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.73),  Lento won the 500 free (5:17.74) and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:11.90) and 200 free (1:55.45), narrowly touched out in both races.  Saglimbeni won 100 free (52.14).  Zach Knecht was second in the 1000 free (11:16.08), improving on his best time by 16 seconds.

 

For the women, Jen Piepenbrink won the 1000 free (11:37.56).  Caitlin Seibold took first in 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives.  Kelsey Carson had a productive meet, winning the 200 butterfly (2:21.06), finishing second in the 100 fly  (1:05.14), and third in the 1000 free.  Sonia Segal-Smith took second in the 200 IM (2:20.63), 100 (1:11.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:36.04).  Kristen Zebrowski was second in the 200 (2:03.10) and 500 free (5:36.05).

 

Skidmore will host its first meet of the season on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. against St. Michael's College.
