Results
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon in their first home meet of the season, with the women taking a 138-97 win. Despite sweeping the diving events, the men lost, 128-103.
The women started off the meet by posting a win in the 400 medley relay, with the team of junior
Allie Little (Kentfield, Calif.), junior
Sonia Segal-Smith (Needham, Mass.), sophomore
Kelsey Carson (Stamford, Conn.) and freshman
Elaine Burns (Worcester, Mass.) combining for a time of 4:26.07.
Results
Carson had another standout meet for the Thoroughbreds, recording wins in the 400 IM (5:02.08) and the 200 butterfly (2:24.05). Segal-Smith also brought home a win in the 1650 freestyle (19:06.69) in front of teammate
Kristen Zebrowski (19:39.12), and finished a close second in the 100 freestyle, coming in at a personal-best time of 55:50.
Senior
Jen Piepenbrink (Wenham, Mass.) finished first in the 500 freestyle (5:42.96) and second in the 200 freestyle (2:05.06), while sophomore
Chelsea Halsor (Dallas, Pa.) finished just ahead of teammate Little in the 50 freestyle, coming in at 27.55.
In three-meter diving, senior
Caitlin Seibold (Barrington Hills, Ill.) scored a 182.85 to take first place.
Megan Beaulieu-Jones picked up a win in the 200 breaststroke (2:48.87), while Zebrowski teamed with Halsor, Piepenbrink, and senior
Jackie Emr (North Potomac, Md.) to out-touch Saint Michael's in the 800 freestyle relay in 8:34.89.
Freshman diver
Doug Pilawa (Chesterland, Ohio) swept one and three meter diving events to lead the men, including a Skidmore College record and NCAA-qualifying final score of 279.53 in three-meter diving.
Juniors
Tom Saglimbeni (Hampton Bay, N.Y.) and
John Tyler Norton (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) and sophomores
Zach Knecht (Storrs, Conn.) and
Stephen Lento (Cincinnatti, Ohio) helped the Thoroughbreds sweep the 800 freestyle relays, winning in 7:55.12.
Lento also touched first in both of his individual events, the 200 freestyle (1:54.74) and the 500 freestyle (5:08.90).
Saglimbeni finished second in the 50 freestyle, falling .01 short in a time of 24:27, and also finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:16.33), just ahead of freshman
Sam Leibenhaut (Valley Stream, N.Y.), who came in at 2:18.57.
Norton, in spite of lost goggles early in the race, picked up the win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.23 and also picked up a win in the 100 freestyle in 52:42.
