Nick White was named the Skidmore college head men's tennis coach in August, 2022.
White led Skidmore back to the Liberty League Semifinal match for the second time in his tenure in 2024 after a 5-2 First Round win over St. Lawrence. The Thoroughbreds had three players earn All-Liberty League accolades under Coach White: Griffin Biernat '25, Nika Mori '26, and Louis Bourn '27.
In his first year in Saratoga Springs, White led Skidmore to a share of the Liberty League regular season title with a 7-1 record and an appearance in the Liberty League Semifinal. After starting the fall with five players, the Thoroughbreds finished 10-8 overall and returned to the ITA National rankings. White oversaw the evolution of top singles player Brendan Jimenez '23, who went on to win Liberty League Player of the Year as well as the ITA National Most Improved Senior Award. Jimenez was an All-American and was chosen to compete at the NCAA Singles Championship.
Prior to Skidmore, White was the assistant coach at Tufts University for three seasons. Previously, he was an assistant coach at Duke University, MIT, and Babson College.
During Nick’s time at Tufts, he helped take the team from #21 nationally in 2019, to a high of #3 nationally in 2022. Also in 2022, Nick helped lead Tufts to the NCAA Semifinal for the first time in program history and a year end #4 national ranking. Additionally, he helped coach four members of the Tufts team to earn All-American honors in three years, with over nine total honors. In 2022, Nick also helped Tufts recruit the #1 recruiting class in the country for 2023 for the first time in program history. At the end of 2022, Nick was awarded the Assistant Coach of the Year for the Northeast Region.
White's decade-plus of coaching experience came after a distinguished playing career. He earned a national ranking of #25 in singles and #17 in doubles as a player at Brandeis University, where he graduated in 2011 with a degree in politics. He went on to compete professionally on the ATP World Tour in 2011-12. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, White has also worked as a private tennis instructor, a teaching club professional, and has provided tutelage at multiple tennis clinics and camps.
