Skidmore College Rowing head coach Jim Tucci has announced the hire of James Augone as the program’s first full-time assistant coach in August. Augone will assist Tucci in the program’s day-to-day responsibilities, including coaching Skidmore’s Women’s and Men’s Freshman/Novice crews and taking the lead on the Thoroughbreds' recruiting efforts.
Augone, a native of Centerville, Va., comes to Saratoga Springs after spending the past three seasons as the Program Director and Girls Head Coach at the Oakton Cougar Crew Club. Augone also had head coaching stints at Wakefield High School (Arlington, Va.) and Holton Arms School (Bethesda, Md.). He also was the coach of the competitive program at the DC Strokes Rowing Club, based in Washington, D.C.
Collegiately, Augone starred at Iona College, where he was a three-time All-MAAC honoree. He graduated in the spring of 2006.
