Rey Crossman

Rey Crossman joined the Skidmore College men's basketball staff in October 2015.

"We are very fortunate to have Rey join our family as an assistant coach," said men's basketball head coach Joe Burke.  "The minute I first spoke with him I knew he was the right guy for this group.  He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge at all levels. His local and national ties will help expand our recruiting and his experience with player development will really help our guys get better. Rey is completed committed to helping us win a national championship."

In his first full season as assistant coach, Crossman helped lead the Thoroughbreds to a Liberty League title, the second straight for the program, and advanced to the NCAA second round for the second year in a row. The Thoroughbreds defeated #21 Franklin & Marshall 83-72 after trailing by 19 points in the second half to move on to the NCAA Round of 32. Crossman and the rest of Burke's staff were named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.

Crossman helped coach freshman guard Edvinas Rupkus, who earned Liberty League Rookie of the Year and a First-Team All-League selection.


In his second season, Crossman helped lead the Thoroughbreds to a program-record 20 victories, as the team advanced to the NCAA second round for the third season in a row. The Thoroughbreds #24 New Jersey City 75-57 in the opening game of the tournament to advance to the Round of 32.

Crossman helped coach senior guard Aldin Medunjanin, who became the program's first NABC All-American selection in 2017. Medunjanin was also named as the Liberty League's Player of the Year and was a D3hoops.com All-Region selection. Crossman also coached Rupkus to a D3hoops.com All-Region honor, as well as freshman forward Pat Gallagher, who earned Liberty League All-Rookie honors. Crossman and Burke's were named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year for the second year in a row.

In 2017-18, the Thoroughbreds advanced to the Liberty League Championship game for the second time in his three years. Along the way, the Thoroughbreds took a 6-0 start to its first-ever national ranking, landing as high as 18th by d3hoops.com. Individually, Rupkus was the Liberty League Player of the Year and became the program's second All-American.

Crossman comes to the Thoroughbreds after serving as the head coach and director of player development at Combine Preparatory Academy. At Combine, Crossman led his team to a 25-8 overall record, helping them to a third-place finish in the USBA National Tournament.

 
Prior to Combine, Crossman spent time working on the AAU circuit with MB1, a program developed by NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues. Crossman had stints coaching the 17U and 14U teams, which competed each year on a national level. He has worked with and developed players who have gone on to play college basketball at all levels.
 
Crossman served as the manager of the men's basketball team at UNC-Charlotte from 2012 to 2014 under head coach Alan Major. During his time with the 49ers the team won the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic, defeating Kansas State, Northeastern, and #14 Michigan, and compiled an overall record of 38-26.
 
In 2005 while earning an associate's degree in business administration from SUNY Cobleskill, Crossman was a vital part of a team that finished 30-6 en route to a regional championship and #7 national ranking.
 
Crossman graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2015.
