SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College men's soccer team battled Rochester to a 1-1 draw at Wachenheim Field on Sunday afternoon.

Colin Goodhines capitalized on a loose ball following a corner-kick sequence in the 44th minute to give the Thoroughbreds (1-2-1) the halftime lead, before the Yellowjackets (1-2-2) answered in the 57th minute to level the match.
Despite ending in a draw, Skidmore finished with a 20-8 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal while earning 12 corners to Rochester's three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skidmore struck first in the 44th minute following a corner-kick sequence, as freshman Keegan Maxwell collected the ball and sent an attempt wide right that the Rochester goalkeeper dove to gather but could not control, allowing Goodhines to take advantage and find the back of the net from point-blank range.
- The Thoroughbreds carried an 11-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks into halftime.
- Rochester equalized in the 57th minute on an unassisted goal from Johnny Makula.
- Goodhines threatened again in the 77th minute after receiving a touch pass on the right side of the box, but an aggressive play by Rochester's keeper wiped out the potential brace to force a corner kick.
- Senior Connor Mansfield placed shots on goal in the 78th and 81st minutes, but both attempts were saved by the Rochester goalkeeper.
- In the 90th minute, Goodhines fired a strike toward the bottom-left corner, forcing a diving save that preserved the 1-1 draw.
STANDOUT THOROUGHBREDS
- Goodhines finished with a game-high seven shots in addition to his first goal of the season and 16th of his career.
- Mansfield tallied three shots, with two placed on goal. Â
