CANTON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team needed only one win on Saturday at St. Lawrence to clinch the advantage of being the home team in the upcoming play-in game. The Thoroughbreds got it done in game one, defeating the Saints 13-2 in six innings. The Saints came from behind to walk off game two, 9-8.
- The teams will meet again on Thursday morning in Rochester to begin the Liberty League Tournament. The winner will face top-seeded Rochester. The loser's season is over.
- Skidmore finished the regular season 20-16 with its second 20-win season since 2010. The Thoroughbreds went 7-7 in the Liberty League.
- St. Lawrence is 15-15 and 7-7.

Game 1 – Skidmore 12, St. Lawrence 3 (6 inn.)
- Sophia Finch had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and four RBI to lead the charge for Skidmore.
- Nate' Burley had a home run, double, and drove in three.
- Natalie Mayne had the win in the circle, her seventh. She allowed three runs on eight hits in the six-inning complete game. She did not walk a batter and struck out one.
- Both teams scored two runs in the fourth before the Thoroughbreds pounced for five each in the fifth and sixth to take a double-digit lead.
- The first six batters in the Skidmore fifth reached. Elle Harrison got it going with a triple. Skidmore also stole three of its four bases in the inning.
- Finch had two-run doubles in both innings.
- Burley homered inside the park to make it 12-2 in the sixth.
- The Saints had one in the bottom of the sixth for the 12-3 final.
- Emily Siansky went 3-for-3 for the hosts.

Game 2 – St. Lawrence 9, Skidmore 8
- SLU overcame a four-run, sixth-inning deficit to earn the win and split. Each of the six Saint batters who came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh reached, including a tying single by Emily Wendt and then the game-winning hit from Maeve Thompson.
- Skidmore scored in innings 3-through-6 to take an 8-4 lead. The Thoroughbreds had two each in the third and fourth and then three in the fifth.
- Caitlyn Dion was 4-for-4 with a double and four RBI for Skidmore.
- Lily Canale had two hits, including a double, with a pair driven in.
- Both teams had two extra-base hits - all doubles.
- The first five in the SLU order accounted for seven of its 10 hits. Thompson and Allison Kloft both had two.

Skidmore will have a rematch with St. Lawrence Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for the right to advance to the double-elimination conference tournament.
