Mac Cady hit a two-run home run for Skidmore's runs.
Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College baseball team lost a midweek non-league game to Utica, 13-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Ferrari Field. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was halted in the top of the first inning following a brief resumption of play after a 45-minute delay.
- Skidmore drops to 15-10, while Utica is 14-11.
- The Thoroughbreds scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Mac Cady home run, but earlier the visitors scored five times in the top of the fifth, and then followed up the Cady homer with five in the sixth to get a double-digit lead.
- Two out of Skidmore's four hits went for extra bases. Eddie Galvao doubled two batters before Cady's homer.
- Michael Flint pitched a seven-inning complete game for Utica. On 122 pitches, he struck out seven Skidmore hitters while allowing just the four hits, three walks, and two hit batters.
- Skidmore pitching walked 11 Pioneer hitters, while Utica out-hit Skidmore 13-4.
- The top of the lineup did most of the damage for Utica. The 1-4 hitters combined to go 7-for-15 with 10 RBI. Mike Rockwell was 3-for-5 with a homer. Matthew Paolucci also homered on the first pitch of the sixth inning.
- Utica bunted five times including two squeeze plays in the sixth.
- Skidmore starter Henry Fuerst got through the first two innings, including a back-pick by catcher Holden Caney at third to end the second, but got hurt by a two-out Rockwell homer in the third for two runs to open the scoring. The visitors had another two-out hit in the fourth to make it 3-0 before the big innings in the fifth and sixth.

Skidmore will jump back into divisional play this weekend with a series against Vassar. The teams will meet in Poughkeepsie on Friday at 3:30 p.m. for a single game before a home doubleheader at Ferrari Field on Saturday at noon. Senior Day festivities will begin at 11:45 a.m.
