SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team picked up its first Liberty League win of the year in game one of a Saturday doubleheader at Union with a 13-8 victory over the Garnet Chargers. In game two, Skidmore put the tying run on third with one out trying to complete a three-run comeback, but was unable to knock in the run and settled for a split.

Game 1 – Skidmore 13, Union 8
- Skidmore scored seven runs over the final two innings and weathered a five-run Garnet Charger bottom of the seventh inning for the win in the opener.
- Sophia Finch hit a grand slam in the fourth highlighting a six-run Thoroughbred outburst. She finished 2-for-5 with a double.
- Every member of the starting lineup recorded at least one hit for Skidmore, and seven had at least two.
- Lulu Mickle led with three hits, including a triple, and a walk with three runs and two RBI.
- Natalie Mayne also scored three times. She was 2-for-3 with a walk.
- Nate' Burley went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs, and a walk.
- Union (10-14, 1-5 Liberty League) was held to three runs, all three scored in the fourth, until the bottom of ths seventh when it plated five. Sophia Burynski hit a two=-out, three-run home run, but Mallory Allen struck out the next hitter to end it.
- Allen improved to 7-3 in the circle for Skidmore in large part by not issuing a walk despite allowing 11 base hits. She had two strikeouts.
- The Thoroughbreds stranded six runners over the first three innings, but broke through in the fourth when it loaded the bases with no one out and scored the game's first run on a Sam Waters sacrifice fly.
- Then, Mickle singled in a run and a walk to Mayne loaded the bases for Finch, who launched her second homer of the year to make it 6-0.
- Skidmore (12-12, 1-3) loaded the bases again the sixth when Burley hit a two-run single to center field and Madison Bonham drove in the 10th run on an opposite-field knock.
- The Thoroughbreds added three more in the seventh fueled by back-to-back triples from Waters and Mickle and nearly a third, but Rachel Monser was thrown out at third trying to stretch a double after a run had already scored.

Game 2 – Union 5, Skidmore 4
- Finch doubled and pinch hitter Erin Gibbons singled in the top of the seventh to bring up Burley as the tying run with one out as Skidmore trailed by three. Burley doubled, scoring one, before Madison Bonham moved her over, and made it a one-run game, with an opposite-field hit in front of the right fielder. Union got the next two outs in the air to strand the tying run at third and earn the split.
- Union went ahead with a four-run bottom of the third and scored the eventual winning run in the sixth on a wild pitch.
- The Garnet Chargers hit three-straight doubles in the third to account for the scoring.
- Skidmore got one back in the fourth when the Garnet Chargers committed an error.
- Mickle then drove in the second Thoroughbred run on her next trip with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
- Burley finished 3-for-4 for the Thoroughbreds with a pair of doubles.
- Kyla Springer went 2-for-3 and drove in two for Union.
