SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – After its first four games of the year have been washed out, the Skidmore College baseball team will begin its season on Sunday, March 8 in a doubleheader against Baruch College.

Skidmore made it back to the Liberty League Championship Tournament in 2025 where it won its first game against Clarkson before losing the next two to be eliminated. The Thoroughbreds finished the year 21-17-2 and won the Liberty League East Division.

Skidmore swept visiting Rochester (15-5, 5-1) in a Liberty League Crossover Series to make it to the four-team tournament in Ithaca.

A NEW HOME
Skidmore will have a new home for the 2026 season:
Ferrari Field. The recently completed state-of-the-art facility on Daniels Road, a short drive from campus, features a turf playing surface, allows for more cost-effective maintenance, enhances the team and spectator experience, and can safely accommodate larger crowds.

THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
Skidmore has 10 games to start in Florida against Baruch (2), Rockford (3), Hiram, Pitt-Bradford, Haverford, and Geneva (2). The Thoroughbreds are scheduled to play their inaugural game at Ferrari Field on Wednesday, March 18 against Middlebury.

Liberty League play opens that weekend, as Skidmore will host division rivals in Bard (March 20), Rensselaer (March 28), and Vassar (April 18). Also included in the slate are several mid-week contests against non-league opponents and a home doubleheader against Westfield State on April 4. Stay tuned to

The Liberty League Crossover Series is May 1-2, and the double-elimination tournament is May 7-9.

PRESEASON POLL
The Thoroughbreds were picked first in the East Division in the recently released
Liberty League Baseball Coaches Poll.

RETURNING
Skidmore has 25 returners to its roster in 2026. Of them, three earned All-Liberty League honors last year.
Chase Siegel was voted to the All-Liberty League First Team, while
Quinn Hocom and
EJ Stefanelli both landed spots on the third team. Siegel tied the program's single-season win record with nine, Hocom led the league in strikeouts with 71, and Stefanelli hit .338 with 21 RBI in 21 games.

Skidmore has five Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association/Liberty League Championships, most recently in 2012. Plourde enters the season with 483 career victories.
