SAN ANTONIO, TX – The No. 40 Skidmore College fell 5-2 to No. 21 Swarthmore to kick off a trio of spring break matches down in Texas on Tuesday morning. The Thoroughbreds (1-4) picked up a pair of singles victories, but the Garnets (3-3) used their depth to pull away and secure the match.

DOUBLES MATCHES

• The Thoroughbreds battled in doubles action, with the first doubles duo of Ginevra Muratori/Amelie Gonzalez narrowly falling by a 6-4 decision to Swarthmore's Erin Li/Lola Diaz. 
• In third doubles, the pairing of Maggie English/Maeve O'Brien-McKevitt took two games before falling 6-2 to the Garnet's Paola Almeda/Kathleen Shiffer.

SINGLES MATCHES

• In first singles, first year Ginevra Muratori battled through a tightly contested match to earn a straight-set victory, defeating Swarthmore's Erin Li 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) after closing out the second set in a tiebreak.
• In second singles, freshman Amelie Gonzalez cruised to a straight-sets victory to add another point for Skidmore, earning a 6-0, 6-3 win over the Garnet's Lola Diaz.
• In third singles, sophomore Maggie English competed but fell to Swarthmore's Lisa Messier in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
