Thoroughbreds cruise past Bard, 67–31

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team delivered a balanced offensive performance and strong defense to down Bard College, 67–31, in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon.
  • Skidmore (9-12, 7-7 Liberty League) built a 27-11 halftime lead and never looked back, outscoring the Raptors in every quarter en route to a convincing road victory.
  • The Thoroughbreds have a two-game lead over Clarkson for the final playoff spot with four games remaining, including a head-to-head matchup next weekend in Saratoga Springs.
  • Eight different Skidmore players finished with six or more points, six had at least two assists, and five finished with two steals or more.
  • Sophia Martinez led the Thoroughbreds with 11 points, adding three rebounds and four steals. Madison Meyer scored eight points in limited minutes.
  • Claudia Schneider chipped in seven points with three steals, while Meghan Drury scored nine with two 3-pointers and three assists. Stella Criniti added eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a strong all-around effort.
  • Rachel Carpenter and Haley McCarthy each scored seven points, and Audrey Bowen contributed six in Skidmore's balanced attack. McCarthy made each of her three attempts from the field, including a triple.
  • Sara Hastie had a game high five steals with four rebounds and two assists.
  • Aislynn Dixon led Bard (3-18, 1-13) with nine points to go with three assists, two blocks, and three steals.
  • The Thoroughbreds shot 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the field, including 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from 3-point range, while holding Bard to 26.5 percent (13-of-49) overall shooting.
  • Skidmore turned 29 Bard turnovers into 27 points and dominated the paint 32-12. The Thoroughbred bench outscored Bard's 39-10.
  • Defensively, Skidmore limited Bard to just 31 points, allowing only 11 in the first half and in single figures in three out of the four quarters.
