SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Skidmore College women's basketball team earned a 68-47 Liberty League victory over Clarkson University on Friday night at the Williamson Sports Center.
- Skidmore set the tone early, building a double-digit lead in the first quarter and taking a 34-16 advantage into the break. The Thoroughbreds maintained control throughout the second half, leading by as many as 31 down the stretch, and used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to secure the win.
- Skidmore improves to 10-12 overall and 8-7 in the Liberty League with three games remaining. Skidmore needs one more win, or an Ithaca loss, to secure a playoff spot. The Thoroughbreds can finish as high as third.
- Clarkson is 9-13 and 5-10 with slim playoff hopes remaining.
- With constant and relentless ball movement, 18 out of Skidmore's 27 field goals were assisted.
- Sophia Martinez led Skidmore with 16 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field. She also had seven assists and four rebounds.
- Claudia Schneider added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Ruby Krop chipped in 10 points and three blocks. Krop's 65th block of the year tied the Skidmore single-season program record that has held for over 20 years.
- Madison Meyer finished with six steals on the night. She also had six points and two assists.
- Sara Hastie finished with nine points, five rebounds, and four steals as the Thoroughbreds saw multiple players contribute to the scoring column. Ten Skidmore players recorded field goals.
- The Thoroughbreds turned 24 Clarkson turnovers into 34 points, finishing with a 34-11 edge in the category. Skidmore's bench outscored the Golden Knights' 20-11, and Skidmore scored 36 in the paint to Clarkson's 24.
- Clarkson outrebounded Skidmore 42-32 with a 14-9 advantage in second-chance points. The Golden Knights had 19 offensive rebounds.
- Skidmore limited Clarkson to 30.9 percent (17-of-55) shooting from the field and 18.5 percent (5-of-27) from 3-point range.
- Skidmore shot 45.8 percent (27-of-59) on the night and went 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) at the free-throw line.
- Fallon Griffin paced Clarkson with 14 points, and Addie Kea added 10.
- Skidmore's win streak over Clarkson sits at 11.
