SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team outscored host Union 33-24 in the second half, but the Garnet Chargers converted late at the free-throw line to hold on for a 59-54 Liberty League win on Friday.
- Skidmore (8-12, 6-7 Liberty League) got double-doubles from both Madison Meyer and Claudia Schneider. Meyer had 16 points with 10 rebounds and three assists. Schneider had 14 points and 10 boards.
- Despite trailing throughout, Skidmore kept Union from pulling away, never allowing more than a six-point run.
- The Thoroughbreds scored eight unanswered to tie the game at 50 with two minutes remaining.
- Olivia Cunningham, who finished with a double-double for the Garnet Chargers (14 pts, 14 rebs), was unable to finish a 3-point play on the other end with 48 seconds left though her layup gave Union its lead back.
- The Garnet Chargers made six straight free throws from there and went 7-of-8 at the line to close it out.
- Union finished 11-for-16 (68.8 percent) overall from the line and shot 38.6 percent (22-of-57) overall.
- Skidmore finished at 30 percent (21-of-70) from the field and connected on 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) free throws.
- Union scored 16 fast break points to Skidmore's one. The Garnet Chargers also held a 36-28 edge in points in the paint.
- Skidmore's bench outscored Union's, 10-5.
