POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team used a strong second quarter and timely plays down the stretch to earn a 59-55 road victory over Vassar on Tuesday evening on the road.
- Skidmore (8-11, 6-6 Liberty League) trailed by two after the opening quarter before outscoring the Brewers 21-14 in the second to take a 38-33 lead into halftime. The Thoroughbreds maintained control through a tightly contested second half, never relinquishing the lead after the break.
- Madison Meyer led all scorers with 14 points while adding six steals and four rebounds.
- Sara Hastie finished with 10 points, four rebounds, three steals, and three assists, while Sophia Martinez added 10 points with two assists and two steals.
- Ruby Krop chipped in on the defensive side with five blocks. She leads the Liberty League by a wide margin in the category.
- Audrey Bowen and Meghan Drury both scored seven points off the bench. Bowen added a team-high six rebounds.
- Skidmore shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the field and held Vassar to 42.9 percent (24-of-56).
- The Thoroughbreds held advantages in fast-break points (12-10), second-chance points (9-4), and bench scoring (29-20). Both teams scored 36 points in the paint.
- The Thoroughbreds led by as many as 10 points midway through the third quarter before the Brewers cut the deficit to three late in the fourth.
- Skidmore sealed the win at the free-throw line in the final seconds to preserve the four-point victory. Vassar turned it over in an inbound with six seconds left and Skidmore was able to run out the clock.
- Maureen Regan paced Vassar (9-10, 8-4 Liberty League) with 21 points with eight boards and four steals, while Lindsey Shoulders added 13 points.
- The Skidmore win snapped a seven game Vassar streak in the head-to-head matchup since the 2023 Liberty League Semifinal in Saratoga Springs.
