SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Union scored with 22 seconds remaining in regulation and again 23 seconds into overtime to rally past the Skidmore College field hockey team, 6-5, in Liberty League action Friday afternoon at Wagner Park.

Molly Van Vranken scored twice for the Thoroughbreds, who led 4-2 early in the fourth quarter and 5-4 with under five minutes remaining. Skidmore moves to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Liberty League, while Union improves to 6-3 and 1-1.
- Colby Paul opened the scoring at 6:45, converting a penalty stroke for her eighth goal of the season. Paul has scored in five consecutive games.
- Union responded with two goals just 24 seconds apart early in the second quarter. Maddie Greco tied it at 16:57 before Amy Vytopilova gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at 17:21.
- Greco had three goals for the Garnet Chargers, and assisted on two others including the winner.
- Skidmore answered quickly. Van Vranken scored from a short angle off an Erin Ohlenbusch assist at 17:58, and first-year Madeleine Tucker put the Thoroughbreds back in front at 20:49 when she worked around the goalkeeper off a nifty feed from Izzy Blake. The goal was Tucker's first collegiate tally, while Blake picked up her first career assist.
- Van Vranken extended the lead to 4-2 at 43:21 when she picked off the ball in front and finished unassisted. Her second goal of the afternoon gave her eight on the season, tying Paul for the team lead.
- Union erased the two-goal deficit in the fourth. Alex Mandzij made a defensive save on Molly Halliday at 50:30, but Greco poked in the loose ball to pull to within one. Then, Caroline Ranucci converted off a penalty corner at 52:42 to tie the game at four.
- Ella Costa restored the Skidmore lead at 55:23, deflecting an Ohlenbusch blast, that hit something on the way through, at the post. Costa's seventh goal gives her a team-high 21 points on seven goals and seven assists.
- Union pulled its goalkeeper with 52 seconds remaining and earned a late penalty corner right after Skidmore was shown its third green card of the afternoon. Greco completed her hat trick at 59:38 to make it 5-5 before Ranucci scored the winner just 23 seconds into overtime with Union still up a player. Grecco set it up by picking off a Skidmore pass.
- Paul's goal gives her 60 career points on 28 goals and four assists, moving her into 32nd on Skidmore's career scoring list. Costa is up to 44 career points on 13 goals and 18 assists.
- Skidmore finished with a 20-19 edge in shots and a 12-11 advantage in shots on goal. Penalty corners were even at seven apiece.
- Nicole Sylvestri made four saves, while Mandzij recorded her second defensive save of the season for the Thoroughbreds
- Elli Skolnekovich earned the win in relief for the Garnet Chargers. She had three saves.
