Thoroughbreds complete non-conference schedule with 5-3 loss at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team surrendered four second-period goals in a 5-3 non-league loss at Plymouth State on Saturday evening.
  • Skidmore (5-6-2) faced a 3-0 deficit before eventually closing the deficit to one, 4-3, with just under four minutes remaining.
  • Plymouth State (8-5) scored on Skidmore's empty net with 27 seconds remaining for the 5-3 final.
  • Shane Baker, Jack Bartfield, and Dylan Shane were the goal scorers for Skidmore.
  • Mitchell Floccare had a pair of assists, while Oscar Worob, Coleman Jenkins, Tyler Fogu, and Baker all had helpers.
  • Five different goal scorers paved the way for the Panthers: Will Pray, Luca Rea, Will Redick, Byron Hartley, Payton Schaly.
  • Following a scoreless opening period, the hosts scored three times in the first half of the second period, including a pair of goals separated by 1:04, to take a commanding 3-0 lead. The second Panther goal came shorthanded, while the third was on the power play.
  • Skidmore got on the scoreboard on the power play with Baker's fourth of the year from Jenkins and Floccare.
  • Plymouth State seized momentum back with their fourth goal of the period in the last minute.
  • Bartfield trimmed the deficit back to two with an early third-period goal, and Shane tallied Skidmore's third score of the night with 3:57 remaining.
  • The Thoroughbreds rattled off each of the next eight shot attempts in a try for the equalizer. Brandon Shantz had five saves down the stretch, while the other three shots were blocked.
  • Shantz finished with 35 saves as Skidmore had a 38-34 shot advantage.
  • Joshua Seeley had 16 saves and Kyle Ozgun had 13 in split action for Skidmore.
