No. 21 Geneseo edges Skidmore, 2–0; Sylvestri stops 10

GENESEO, N.Y. — The Skidmore College field hockey team fell 2–0 at 21st-ranked SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon despite a strong Thoroughbred resistance and a 10-save outing from junior goalkeeper Nicole Sylvestri. The Thoroughbreds move to 2–1; the Knights improve to 4–0.
  • Geneseo opened the scoring at 9:54 of the first quarter when Ella Greico finished off a penalty-corner sequence, assisted by Ava Harman.
  • Skidmore generated pressure in the second quarter with four corners and shots from Erin Ohlenbusch and Gianna DiGioacchino on frame, but Bridget Schafer turned away both attempts to keep the Knights in front.
  • Sylvestri kept it a one-goal game with five third-quarter saves and finished with 10 stops overall.
  • The Knights doubled the lead late in the fourth on a Shannon Cunningham penalty stroke at 53:50.
  • Geneseo held a 16–7 advantage in shots (12–4 SOG). Schafer made four saves for the shutout.
  • Ohlenbusch and Molly Van Vranken led the Skidmore attach with two shots apiece. Both of Ohlenbusch's were on goal.
