WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Skidmore College women's soccer team was defeated by Williams, 4-0, on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (1-2-2) limited a relentless Ephs (3-1) offense to just two shots-on-goal for most of the first half, before the home team finally broke through with a 36
th minute goal. Once the momentum shifted, it became all Williams in the second half as the Ephs scored thrice more on 16 shots to pull away.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skidmore generated their best scoring chance of the match in the 18th minute when junior Abby Lewis received a pass right in front of the net, before the shot was stopped by Williams goalie Margaret Huelin.
- Sophomore Olivia Chandler placed a second shot on net for the Thoroughbreds in the 29th minute that was also saved.
- The Ephs broke through in the 36th minute on a solo score from Maya Lloyd to give Williams the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Williams quickly built the lead coming out of halftime, with a 47th minute corner kick from Ansley Burns resulting in an Olimpico goal that curved directly into the net.
- The Ephs would score twice more in the 53rd and 78th minutes to secure the 4-0 victory.
STANDOUT THOROUGHBREDS
- Lewis and Chandler recorded the two lone shots-on-goal for the Skidmore offense.
