SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Skidmore College (2-1-2) used an 89th-minute winner from Colin Goodhines to defeat Springfield College (3-2-0), 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. Owen Correll opened the scoring late in the first half, and goalkeeper Will Devall made three second-half saves to secure the result.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Springfield (3-2-0) equalized in the 65th minute as Tommy Quiterio finished a chance from close range off passes from Parker Gustine and Connor Policarpio.
  • With the score tied late, Goodhines delivered the decisive strike at 88:41, converting from on a free kick from the edge of the area to lift the Thoroughbreds to a 2-1 win. His right-footed bomb snuck inside the right post and past the Pride keeper for the winner.

  • The Thoroughbred edge continued into the second half before the Pride turned up the pressure, leading to the tying goal, and multiple strong chances late to take the lead. A Devall diving save to his right in the 83rd minute kept things level.
  • Skidmore outshot the Pride 21-15 and held an 11-4 edge in shots on goal; corners favored the Thoroughbreds 8-7.
