LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Skidmore College volleyball team was honored with a pair of awards from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The team earned the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award Sponsored by INTENT, as well as picking up a spot on the Team Academic Honor Roll, which celebrates programs in the top 20 percent of GPAs for their division.
 
Teams must have achieved a minimum 3.30 team GPA over the past academic year for the honor. In total, 1,450 teams were honored across collegiate and high school volleyball nationwide.
 
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," says AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes." 
 
Skidmore is one of 51 programs under the NCAA Division III umbrella to get the Team Academic Award Honor Roll. Skidmore and Vassar are the Liberty League representatives on the exclusive list.
 
Skidmore teams have won the Team Academic Award 18 times, and three years in a row, since the program was established in 1993.
