Thoroughbreds complete season at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team completed its season on the road at Clarkson on Saturday afternoon. The hosts won both games via the rune rule – 10-0 (6 inn.) and 11-3 (5 inn.).
  • With the losses, Skidmore completes its season 13-23 overall and 3-13 in Liberty League play. Clarkson improved to 22-13 and 12-4 in the league and will compete in the conference tournament next weekend.
Clarkson 10, Skidmore 0 (6 inn.)
  • The Thoroughbreds were limited to four hits in a 10-0 loss to Clarkson in game one of Saturday's Liberty League doubleheader.
  • Clarkson plated runs in five of six innings, including four in the sixth to end the game via run rule.
  • Sophomore pitcher Mallory Allen (8-8) threw 5.2 innings for Skidmore, allowing 12 hits and 10 earned runs with two strikeouts.
  • Sophia Finch led Skidmore offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with a double.
  • Natalie Mayne and Elle Harrison added singles; Harrison also reached on a hit-by-pitch and added a sacrifice bunt.
  • Sam Waters walked, stole a base, and advanced to third in the first inning but was left stranded.
  • Skidmore's defense committed no errors, highlighted by four putouts from Finch at first and clean infield work from Delaney Swain at shortstop (4 PO, 1 A).
  • Clarkson's Devin Fitzpatrick earned the complete-game shutout and led offensively with a 3-for-4 performance, including two home runs and seven RBI.

  • Fitzpatrick led Clarkson again, going 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
