SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Skidmore College proudly announces that Head Baseball Coach
Ron Plourde has been selected for induction into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the sport both in his home state of Maine and throughout his three decades teaching and coaching baseball.

A native of Lewiston, Maine, Plourde has led Skidmore's baseball program since 1998, amassing over 480 career wins and guiding the Thoroughbreds to five Liberty League championships and four NCAA Division III tournament appearances. His leadership has earned him five Liberty League Coach of the Year honors (2005, 2010, 2022, 2023, 2025) and the 2010 ECAC Coach of the Year award.

Plourde's impact extends beyond the field. He has mentored numerous student-athletes, including Liberty League Players of the Year in Jackson Hornung (twice) and Pat Geiger, and has fostered a culture of academic excellence, with 14 players earning Liberty League All-Academic Team honors in 2025.

Before his tenure at Skidmore, Plourde played and coached collegiate baseball at St. Joseph's College in Standish, Maine, and also coached at Frostburg State University.

The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame will formally induct Plourde later this year, celebrating his enduring legacy and contributions to baseball in Maine and beyond.
