Coaching Staff of the Year award highlights seven Thoroughbreds on All-Liberty League Baseball release

TROY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College baseball coaching staff, under head coach Ron Plourde, was voted the 2025 Liberty League Baseball Coaching Staff of the Year and six players were selected to all-conference teams as announced on Tuesday.

Ron Plourde, Matt Karpousis '23, John Barnes, J.T. Tellstone – Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
For the fifth time of his career and for the third time in the last four seasons, a coaching staff under Ron Plourde has been named the staff of the year in the Liberty League. The Thoroughbreds captured the East Division crown in 2025 after going 9-3 in the division and advancing to the Liberty League Tournament with a sweep of Rochester.  The team finished with 21 victories marking the 10th time in Plourde's career that a Skidmore team eclipsed the 20-win plateau.

Chase Siegel (#34, So., P, Westport, Connecticut) – All-Liberty League First Team
The Liberty League leader in wins went 9-1 in 2025 to tie the program's single-season win record for a pitcher. He pitched to a 4.11 earned-run average over 65.2 innings of work. He also struck out 59 batters while holding hitters to a sub-.300 batting average. He went seven innings or more in five starts in 2025, including seven-inning starts in both of his playoff appearances – both wins for the Thoroughbreds.

Sam Kornet (#25, Sr., IF, Medfield, Massachusetts) – All-Liberty League First Team
The Liberty League leader in home runs hit 12 long balls in 2025, tying the single-season program record, and breaking the career homer mark for Skidmore. Kornet hit .340 overall with 11 doubles 45 RBI, and 40 runs. He finished fourth in the league in slugging (.641) and OPS (1.097), and was third in RBI. Kornet also hit .408 in Liberty League contests with seven round trippers.

Trey Bourque (#6, Sr., C/IF, North Scituate, Rhode Island) – All-Liberty League Second Team
Bourque hit .319 in his senior season for Skidmore with 14 extra-base hits to go with 27 RBI and a career high 45 runs scored. His 53 hits led the team and finished tied for third in the league while also bringing him to 198 for his career setting a new program mark. Logging a majority of the innings behind the plate for the Thoroughbreds, Bourque threw out eight potential base stealers while putting runners across the league on notice with multiple pick offs.

Ewen Donald (#20, Sr., OF, Kimberton, Pennsylvania) – All-Liberty League Second Team
Donald's superb senior season was highlighted by a program-best 29 game hitting streak in which he hit safely in each of the first 26 games he played this season and had a hit in 27-of-28 games overall. The lefty-hitting outfielder hit .426 over 122 at bats with seven doubles, two home runs, and 35 RBI. He had 16 multi-hit efforts and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week on May 5 after he went 8-for-10 after returning to the lineup from injury.

Quinn Hocom (#31, Jr., P, Watsonville, California) – All-Liberty League Third Team
Hocom led the Liberty League with 71 strikeouts over 53 innings of work in 2025 while holding opponents to a .252 batting average – ranking fifth in the league. He finished 4-0 with a 4.58 ERA over 11 starts for the Thoroughbreds and allowed two earned runs or fewer seven times. He had two scoreless starts against league opponents, including six shutout frames April 19 against Union. He also struck out 14 on March 9 against Wisconsin Lutheran over six innings.

EJ Stefanelli (#30, Fy., OF, Monmouth Beach, New Jersey) – All-Liberty League Third Team
The two-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week got off to a scorching start to his collegiate career. He finished at .338 with five doubles, two homers, and 21 RBI over 24 games played. Stefanelli had five multi-hit efforts over his first seven appearances with 10 RBI. He later went 7-for-14 in a league series against Rensselaer with seven runs scored and four RBI on the way to another Rookie of the Week award.
