SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Senior first baseman Sam Kornet was selected to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for the week ending April 6. Kornet was one of two first basemen selected.
 
Kornet, the Liberty League Baseball Performer of the Week, went 9-for-14 (.643) across four games last week for Skidmore with two home runs, two doubles, five RBI, and five runs scored.
 
The Thoroughbred slugger also walked five times, once intentionally, and got hit by two pitches to post an .842 on-base percentage. Kornet reached base and scored in each of the four games while recording three multi-hit games.
 
Kornet's two homers last week brought him to eight on the season and an even 20 for his career. He is two away from trying the career home run record.
 
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its fourteenth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the eighth Team of the Week of the 2025 season.
 
Kornet and the first-place Thoroughbreds will host non-division doubleheaders this weekend against Ithaca and Hobart.
