SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Skidmore College men's lacrosse team will kick off the 2025 Liberty League postseason by hosting fifth-seeded Ithaca in a first round matchup at Wachenheim Field this afternoon at 4 PM.

ABOUT SKIDMORE
The Thoroughbreds punched their ticket into the postseason for the first time since 2011 after achieving an 8-6 record alongside a winning 4-3 mark in Liberty League play. The program kicked off conference play on the right foot by upsetting No. 16 St. Lawrence, 9-8, before closing out the season by winning three of the final four conference matchups against Vassar, Union and Ithaca.
Skidmore is led offensively by freshman
Mike Aiello, who posted a team-high 35 goals with 10 assists, and senior star
Brian Gonsalves, who recorded 22 goals and a team-leading 16 assists. Both players finished top ten in the conference in goals per game, while Gonsalves also finished among the top of the leaderboards in assists per game.
Defensively, senior goalie
Collin Kuester totaled 126 saves and a .521 saves percentage in 12 games, while freshman
Michael Dearborn and junior
Marty McFadden finished top-five in the conference with 29 and 24 caused turnovers, respectively.
ABOUT ITHACA
The Bombers posted a 9-8 overall record and a 3-4 mark in conference play during the regular season. The program achieved Liberty League victories over Vassar, Union and Clarkson to qualify for the postseason.
Offensively, Ithaca is led by Lucas Proctor, who finished with 26 goals and 20 assists, and Kyle Proctor, who recorded 19 goals with 21 assists in the regular season. At goal, the Bombers are anchored by Andrew Minard, who totaled 176 saves and a .562 win percentage in 17 appearances.
RECENT SERIES HISTORY
Since Ithaca joined the Liberty League in the 2017-18 academic year, the Thoroughbreds have posted a 2-5 record in seven games played. Importantly, Skidmore maintains an even 2-2 record at home, and has won two of the past three matchups against the Bombers.
With eyes on a road postseason victory, Skidmore needs to look no further than in this year's regular season finale this past Saturday, in which the Thoroughbreds ran away in the second half to secure the 15-10 senior day victory.
Today's game also marks the first playoff matchup between the two programs.

With a win, the Thoroughbreds will travel to top-seeded RIT on Friday to compete in the semifinals round of the conference tournament.
