No. 38 Thoroughbreds sweep No. 39 Union in regular season finale

SCHENECTADY, NY – The No. 38 Skidmore College women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a dominant 7-0 sweep over No. 39 Union on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Thoroughbreds improved to a stellar 7-1 in Liberty League play and are set to be the top seed in the conference playoffs next weekend after securing the three-way tiebreak over RPI and Vassar.

DOUBLES MATCHES
  • In first doubles, the senior duo of Konika Dhull and Grace Truong clutched out a competitive 6-4 over Union's Alexis and Meidani.
  • In second doubles, the pairing of senior Ella Provost and freshman Mia Sarzynska secured the 6-3 victory over the Garnet Chargers' Langille and Semon.
  • In third doubles, the Skidmore duo of sophomore Coco Prokop and junior Beilynn Geiss closed out the doubles sweep with the nail-biting 7-5 win over Union's Alphabet and Finkelstein.
SINGLES MATCHES
  • In first singles, Dhull conceded just one game in a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Union's Meidani.
  • In second singles, Provost won in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 straight sets performance against the Garnet Chargers' Semon.
  • In third singles, Geiss won set one 6-2 over Union's Jacobs, before wrapping up the straight sets win with a 6-4 set two victory.
  • In fourth singles, Sarzynska won in a three-set thriller after coming out on top in the third set tiebreaks, 10-5. The freshman won set one against Union's Arizpe-Sierra before losing set two 3-6.
  • In fifth singles, Prokop cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 straight sets win over Union's Alphabet.
  • In sixth singles, freshman Juliette Ceas took down the Garnet Chargers' Finkelstein after winning 6-3, 6-1.
UP NEXT
Officially securing the tiebreaks for the top seed, the Thoroughbreds will get a first round bye in the playoffs next Friday, before taking on the winner of fourth-seeded Union and fifth-seeded St. Lawrence on Saturday in the semifinals round. The match will be hosted in Ithaca, NY at the Reis Tennis Center of Cornell University.
