ITHACA, NY – The top-seeded Skidmore College women's tennis team is back in the Liberty League Championship match after a swift 4-0 sweep over fourth-seeded Union in the semifinals round on Saturday morning at the Reis Tennis Center of Cornell University.
Winners of the past 13 Liberty League titles, the Thoroughbreds look to continue the dynastic run tomorrow and punch their ticket back into the NCAA Tournament in the process.
DOUBLES MATCHES
- In first doubles, the senior duo of Konika Dhull and Grace Truong battled to a competitive 6-4 victory over Union's Alexis and Meidani.
- In third doubles, the pairing of junior Beilynn Geiss and sophomore Coco Prokop dominated to a clean 6-0 victory over the Garnet Chargers' Alphabet and Finkelstein.
- At the time of the doubles conclusion, the second doubles duo of senior Ella Provost and freshman Mia Sarzynska led 5-4.
SINGLES MATCHES
- In first singles, Dhull conceded just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 straight sets victory over Union's Meidani.
- In third singles, Provost took down the Garnet Chargers' Jacobs after winning set one 6-4, before closing things out with a 6-1 second set victory.
- In sixth singles, Prokop earned the win over Union's Finkelstein after winning set one 6-3, followed by a clean 6-0 second set victory.
- At the time of the match's conclusion, Truong led in second singles after having won set one, 7-5 and led second set 2-1.
- Similarly in fifth singles, Sarzynska had the upper hand after having won set one 6-3 and was tied up 3-3 in set two.
