Skidmore concludes season at No. 21 Ithaca

ITHACA, NY – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team concluded the 2025 season with a 19-11 defeat to No. 21 Ithaca on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Thoroughbreds (6-10, 3-7 Liberty League) received notable offensive performances from the senior pairing of Jillian Lockwood and Lily Schwartzman, whom combined for seven goals and two assists in their final collegiate game. However, it proved not enough against a dynamic Bombers (10-6, 7-3 Liberty League) offense that finished with eight separate goal scorers to fend off multiple Skidmore comeback bids and pull away in the second half.

With her third goal of the game, Lockwood also joined Schwartzman in the program's 100-career goals club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bombers began the game with a pair of goals, before Lockwood and junior Julia Cafasso responded for Skidmore with scores of their own to tie the game up at 2-2 with 6:13 on the clock.
  • However, Ithaca closed out the first quarter with three-consecutive scores in the closing minutes to take a 5-2 lead.
  • In the second quarter, the Thoroughbreds came out firing with goals from sophomore Charlotte Taylor and Lockwood to cut the deficit to a manageable 5-4 with 10:14 left in the half.
  • The remainder of the half was all Bombers as the home team put up five goals in the final ten minutes to overwhelm a lone Schwartzman score from Skidmore to take a 10-5 lead at intermission.
  • Ithaca pulled away to start out the third quarter with three straight goals to take a 13-5 lead with 10:43 to go.
  • The Thoroughbreds responded in the periods with a trio of goals of their own off the sticks of Lockwood, junior Lily Hudner and Schwartzman in the closing seconds. However, it was not enough to cut into the deficit as Ithaca took a 15-8 lead into the final period of play.
  • In the fourth, Skidmore received goals from Schwartzman, Lockwood and Hudner, but the deficit proved too large to overcome as the Bombers held on for the 19-11 victory.
