Thoroughbreds sweep St. Lawrence to secure weekend split

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team won all nine matches on the way to a 7-0 victory over visiting St. Lawrence University on Sunday at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
  • The Thoroughbreds are 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League after salvaging the weekend split.
  • St. Lawrence falls to 7-8 and 1-2.
  • Skidmore got through doubles with relative ease. Nika Mori and Fletcher King met the most resistance, but they were able to protect an early break for a 6-4 win.
  • Yuval Goodman and Griffin Biernat worked a 6-2 win together, while Harrison Gradin and Kyle Lundberg won 6-1.
  • The trend continued in singles as Skidmore claimed all but one sets on the way to the sweep.
  • Goodman won a 10-7 tiebreak over Edvin Strandberg for a dramatic three-set win.
  • King got a late break in the first set of his singles match at No. 3 on the way to his straight-set victory.
  • Skidmore lost just nine games combined over the other four singles matches as Biernat, Mori, and Lundberg each won their second matches of the day and Adel Aissaoui entered the lineup at sixth singles and won 6-2, 6-1.
  • SLU beat Skidmore in the regular season last year, but this is the second-straight Thoroughbred win including a first-round playoff match last year.
