No. 35 Thoroughbreds split home doubleheader against RPI and Bard

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The No. 35 Skidmore College women's tennis team split a pair of home Liberty League matches against No. 27 RPI and Bard at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center on Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds fell 4-3 to the Engineers, before securing the 7-0 sweep against the Raptors in which the team did not drop even one game.

GAME ONE - RPI 4, SKIDMORE 3
  • In doubles action, the second doubles duo of freshman Mia Sarzynska and senior Ella Provost cruised to a 6-2 victory over the Engineers' Jaiswal and Sarabosing. But it proved not enough as RPI came out victorious in the other two matches to secure the doubles point.
  • In first singles, senior Konika Dhull won a three-set thriller that saw the senior cruise to a 6-2 first set win, before falling 3-6 in set two and clinching the match with a 7-5 third set win over RPI's Ridenour.
  • In fourth singles, junior Beilynn Geiss was up one set against RPI's Kannan after winning set one by a commanding 6-1, before her opponent retired due to injury during set two.
  • In sixth singles, freshman Juliette Ceas battled back from a 1-6 first set defeat against RPI's Sarabosing to win the last two sets by a commanding 6-1, 6-4 margin.
GAME TWO – SKIDMORE 7, BARD 0
  • The Thoroughbreds won the program's 14th straight against Bard since the Raptors entered the conference in 2011.
  • Skidmore didn't drop a single game as the doubles duos of Provost/Sarzynska, Geiss/Coco Prokop, and Ceas/Maggie English all won in 6-0 fashion.
  • In singles, the Thoroughbreds rolled out a largely underclassmen lineup alongside senior Konika Dhull and Geiss, with English making an appearance in sixth singles to join Sarzynska, Ceas and Prokop. All singles matches concluded in a pristine 6-0, 6-0 straight sets fashion.
