Thoroughbreds tripped up by Violets, 5-2

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to visiting New York University on Sunday morning.
  • Skidmore (6-5), ranked 39th nationally, got wins at both second and third doubles, but NYU came back hot in singles, claiming 5-of-6, to come back and win the match.
  • The Thoroughbreds claimed the doubles point with 6-4 wins from Fletcher King and Nika Mori at No. 2 and Harrison Gradin and Kyle Lundberg at No. 3.
  • Adel Aissaoui (6-4, 6-3) got the Skidmore point in singles with a swift straight-set win over Kline.
  • Elsewhere, Lundberg came out ahead in a first-set tiebreak before going to a third set when he fell short in a tiebreak in the second set. Frowein rode the momentum for the victory.
  • Biernat also came up short in a tiebreak in his first set.
UP NEXT
  • Skidmore has completed its non-league schedule. The Thoroughbreds pick up league play next Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. against Rensselaer and have St. Lawrence at home on Sunday, March 30.
