No. 39 Thoroughbreds defeat Rhodes, 5-2

Box Score ORLANDO, FL – The No. 39 Skidmore College men's tennis team battled to a 5-2 match win over Rhodes on Thursday morning.

DOUBLES MATCHES
  • In first doubles, the Skidmore duo of sophomore Yuval Goodman and senior Griffin Biernat defeated Rhodes' Mainella and Bonovich, 6-2.
  • In second doubles, senior William Goethlin and junior Nika Mori fended off the Lynx's Fridman and Johnson in a competitive 6-4 victory.
  • In third doubles, the Thoroughbreds duo of sophomore Harrison Gradin and junior Kyle Lundberg clutched out the 6-4 victory over Rhodes' Kohler and Monnet.
SINGLES MATCHES
  • In first singles, Goodman was edged out in a three-set thriller as the sophomore rallied from a 7-6 set one loss by winning set two in 6-4 fashion to force the tie-breaking third set. However, the comeback fell short as Goodman lost 10-7 in tiebreaks to the Lynx's Bonovich.
  • In second singles, Biernat needed three sets to defeat Rhodes' Mainella after winning set one 6-3, losing set two 4-6 before finally winning the third set 6-3.
  • In third singles, Moricame back from a 4-6 set one loss to Rhodes' Fridman by winning the final two sets in 6-3 and 6-2 fashion.
  • In fourth singles, Lundberg defeated the Lynx's Thornberry in straight sets with a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
  • In fifth singles, Gradin fell to Rhodes' Monnet 6-4, 7-6.
  • In sixth singles, sophomore Adel Aissaoui defeated the Lynx's Greaves with a 7-5, 6-0 straight sets win.
UP NEXT
Skidmore will close out their Orlando road trip with a 7:30 AM matchup against Connecticut College tomorrow morning.
