No. 39 Skidmore fall 7-0 to No. 5 Spartans

ORLANDO, FL – The No. 39 Skidmore College men's tennis team were defeated 7-0 by No. 5 Case Western Reserve in the second of five spring break matches down in Orlando on Tuesday afternoon.

DOUBLES MATCHES
  • In first doubles, the Skidmore duo of Griffin Biernat and Yuval Goodman fell to the Spartans' Devaraj and Hishinuma, 6-3.
  • In second doubles, the Thoroughbreds pairing of Nika Mori and Adel Aissaoui won a game but fell to Case Western's Chen and Totorica by a 6-1 final.
  • In third doubles, the duo of Kyle Lundberg and Harrison Gradin nearly pulled off a comeback win after tying things up at 5-apiece after falling down 5-2. However, the Spartans duo of Mahenthiran and Prochnow won the next two to defeat the Thoroughbreds 7-5.
SINGLES MATCHES
  • In first singles, Biernat lost to Case Western's Mahenthiran with a pair of competitive 6-4 set losses.
  • In second singles, Goodman nearly pulled off a three-set win after narrowly losing in the third-set tiebreaks 10-8 to the Spartans' Devaraj. The sophomore lost the first set 6-4, before forcing the third set tiebreak with a clutch 7-5 victory in the second set.
  • In third singles, Lundberg won four games in a 6-1, 6-3 straight sets defeat to Case Western's Kosseifi.
  • In fourth singles, Mori fell to Case Western's Hishinuma in 6-4, 6-3 fashion.
  • In fifth singles, Aissaoui won three games in a 6-1, 6-2 defeat to the Spartans' Plunkett.
  • In sixth singles, senior William Goethlin fell to Case Western's Salazar Garza in straight sets 6-4 and 6-3.
UP NEXT
The Thoroughbreds will take on Rhodes College on Thursday in a 11 AM matchup in Orlando.
