ITHACA, NY – The Skidmore College women's tennis team picked up the first victory of the spring season in dominant fashion after defeating Ithaca 6-1 on the road Sunday morning.

DOUBLES MATCHES

• The Thoroughbreds first doubles duo of Konika Dhull and Grace Truong picked up the easy 6-1 victory over Ithaca's Taylor Crain and Alys Pop.
• In second doubles, Ella Provost and Beilynn Geiss secured the sweep over Sabrina Cheung and Ava Casell-Lapetina 6-0.
• The Skidmore third doubles pairing of Mia Sarzynska and Coco Prokop rounded out the sweep in doubles action with a 6-3 victory over Lauren Rodriguez and Madeleine Sutro of the Bombers.

SINGLES MATCHES

• In a competitive first singles match, Dhull cruised to a 6-2 first set victory, before finding herself in a 6-6 tie in the second set against Ithaca's Crain, who narrowly won in tie-breaks 7-5 to force a third set. In the third set, the Skidmore senior clutched out a 10-8 set victory to secure the match.  
• Provost cruised through third singles action by defeating Ithaca's Cheung 6-0, 6-2.
• In fourth singles, Geiss faced a challenge in the first set from Rodriguez, but managed to hold off the Bomber with a 6-4 set win, before cruising in the second set 6-1.
• Prokop had a stellar performance in fifth singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Sutro.
• Rounding things out in sixth singles, Sarzynska defeated Ithaca's Aenessa Rylski in 6-3, 6-1 fashion.

UP NEXT
The Thoroughbreds will play the inaugural home match at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center next Saturday by hosting Wellesley in a 3 PM matchup.
