Balanced attack leads the way for Thoroughbreds in 59-40 win at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team used at least six points from seven different players in a 59-40 win on the road at Bard on Saturday afternoon.
  • The win has Skidmore at 8-6 in the Liberty League and 10-11 overall with four games remaining. The Thoroughbreds are tied still tied with St. Lawrence for fifth, now just one game behind fourth-place Union.
  • Bard is 2-19 overall and 0-14 in the league.
  • Claudia Schneider, Amelia Medolla, and Emmy Plage paced Skidmore with eight points apiece. Schenider had five rebounds, while Medolla and Plage both finished with four boards and two steals.
  • Madison Meyer followed right behind with seven points, four assists, and three steals.
  • Becca Horger, Cassie Davidson, and Sophia Martinez all dropped six. Martinez pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
  • Erin Tobes led the way for the hosts with eight points and three assists.
  • Skidmore led from the five-second mark on, overwhelming the Bard offense with a press that resulted in 29 points off turnovers and a deep rotation that resulted in a 27-14 edge in bench points. The Thoroughbreds had 13 different players log at least seven minutes on the court.
  • Despite a good start from Bard, Skidmore still led by 13 at the end of the first quarter with 27 points on 56.3 percent shooting as a team and a perfect 6-for-6 mark at the foul line.
  • The Thoroughbreds surrendered single-digit points in the second and third and after leading 43-18 at half, extended the advantage to 56-25 after 30 minutes of play.
  • Bard used a 13-0 run in the fourth and outscored the Thoroughbred reserves 15-3 in the quarter overall to cut into the otherwise lopsided game.
  • Skidmore had its largest lead at 33 late in the third quarter.
