Skidmore comes up short on the road at league-leading Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team fell to Liberty League leading Ithaca College on the road on Friday night, 62-40.
  • Skidmore is 9-11 on the season and 7-6 in the Liberty League with five games to play. The Thoroughbreds are tied with St. Lawrence for fifth.
  • Ithaca is 12-7 and 11-1 with a half-game lead over Vassar for first.
  • Sophomore Claudia Schneider led Skidmore with 10 points and five rebounds.
  • Cassie Davidson scored eight with four steals.
  • Emmy Plage had five points, three steals, and two blocks.
  • Emma Waite led three Bombers in double figures with 18 points and seven boards.
  • Anya Watkins and Annabella Yorio both had 13 points for the hosts. Watkins also had nine rebounds and three steals.
  • Skidmore strongest quarter was the first, where is shot 66.7 percent for a 17-14 lead.
  • The Bombers then got hot in the second, connecting on 5-of-8 from 3-point range, to take a 38-30 lead into the break.
  • Ithaca held the Thoroughbreds to 10 points in the second half and no field goals in the fourth for the 22-point victory despite managing just nine points in the third.
  • Both teams scored 13 points off turnovers, but Ithaca had a 15-4 edge in second-chance points.
  • Skidmore had a slight advantage in bench points, 12-8.
